The 5th Australasian Rogaining Championships will be held at Waikaia in northern Southland New Zealand on February 11th & 12th 2017. Entries are welcome from everyone in the region and from outside. This event will be the regional qualifying event for the World Rogaining Championships.

This event will also be the New Zealand Rogaining Championships for 2017.

Rogaining is a sport that welcomes participation. You do not need to be a world class athlete to enter. All you need to do is navigate across the terrain using only the supplied map and a compass. You may return to the event HQ as often as you like and do not need to be out on the course all the time.

Whether you identify as a hiker, walker, tramper, orienteer, off-road runner, multisporter, adventure racer, or any other moderately fit outdoors aficionado, come join the challenge.

Championship Event

The event duration will be 24 hours starting at midday on Saturday and finishing at midday on Sunday. International rogaine rules will apply.

Detailed Information will be sent to teams two weeks prior to the event.

Supporting Events

Two supporting events will be available. Competitors in these events will not be eligible for any championship prizes or titles. These events will be held over the same terrain as the championship event and potentially use many of the same control points. Competitors should not aid other competitors particularly those in the championship event except in an emergency. In particular they should leave the area of a control point as soon as they have "punched" it.

15 in 24 hours

This event will start at midday on Saturday and finish at midday on Sunday. However competitors are only permitted to be on the course for up to 15 hours in total. All team members must return to the event HQ at the same time and register the time that they come in and the time they leave again. They may do this as many times as they want over the 24 hour period. These will be a points penalty for any time longer than 15 hours spent on the course and for finishing later than midday on Sunday.

7 hours

This event will start and finish on Saturday.
